LANGUARD point
C3 | LANGUARD POINT
Landguard Point marks the southernmost tip of Suffolk, where the land narrows between the North Sea and the busy waters of Harwich Harbour. It is a place of constant movement, shaped by tides, weather, shipping and the natural forces that continue to reshape the coastline.
Standing at the point offers a unique perspective on one of Britain’s busiest maritime gateways. Container ships, ferries, tugboats and pilot vessels pass close to shore as they enter and leave the Port of Felixstowe. At the same time, the surrounding shingle beaches and nature reserve provide an important habitat for coastal wildlife and migratory birds.
Landguard Point is where industry, nature and geography meet. It is both a working coastline and a place to pause, watch the harbour and appreciate the changing relationship between sea and land at the very edge of Suffolk.
